A month of transactions is a list you have to work through. A month as a heatmap is a shape you take in at a glance - and the shape is usually the thing you were looking for.

How to read it
Each day, sized by spend.
Every day in the calendar is scaled by how much left your accounts that day. Heavy days are large and dark; quiet days shrink back. Nothing needs interpreting.
Scroll back and the months keep going. Three months in, the recurring shapes start to be obvious - the Friday cluster, the payday spike and the week after it, the deliveries that arrive whenever you work late.
It's a different kind of feedback from a budget. A budget tells you whether you went over a number you set in advance. The heatmap tells you what your month actually looks like, including the parts you never thought to budget for.
On the free tier the heatmap covers this month and the previous two - a rolling three-month window, which is enough for the patterns to surface. Kashaa Pro opens the full history, every month back to your first entry. The records themselves never expire either way.
Three views
The heatmap is one of three.
The Home tab opens on your account summary, then lets you switch how you read the same underlying data.
Records
The running transaction list, grouped by day and infinitely paginated. The literal history, when you need the specific entry.
Breakdown
A donut chart of where the money went by category, over whatever date range you scope it to. The proportional view.
Heatmap
The calendar, scaled by daily spend, scrolling back month by month. The temporal view - when, rather than what.
All three are computed from the same daily rollup in the database, so they're three readings of one truth rather than three separate calculations that can disagree.
