The fastest way to track a record.

Every other feature in Kashaa depends on this one. A heatmap, a budget, a debt balance - none of them are worth anything if logging the transaction was tedious enough that you stopped doing it. So the entry flow is the part that got the most attention.

The screen

A number pad, not a form.

Tapping the centre button opens a full-screen numpad. No scrolling list of fields, no dropdowns to expand, nothing to dismiss before you can type the first digit.

Amount, account, category, save. Four decisions, and two of them are usually already made for you by the time you look down. Everything else on the screen - the note, the fee, the date and time - is optional and sits within reach if you want it.

Under five seconds, once it's in your hands.

Where the seconds go

Four steps, and two shortcuts through them.

Nothing here is a trick. Each one removes a specific tap or a specific pause from the same four-step path.

StepWhat you doWhat Kashaa does
AmountType it on the numpadOpens focused, so the first digit lands
AccountTap oneAdvances you straight to the category picker
CategoryTap oneLeads with the ones you actually use
SaveTap saveWrites locally and returns immediately

Selecting an account moves you to the category picker on its own - that's one deliberate tap removed from every single entry you will ever make. Over a year of daily logging it is the difference that compounds.

The picker

Your own habits sort the list for you.

The subcategory picker leads with what you use most, ranked by a blend of frequency and recency rather than by alphabet or by the order you happened to create things in.

After about a week the option you're reaching for is usually already on screen, so the category step collapses from a search into a single tap. The ranking keeps moving as your life does - a category you lean on in December quietly drifts back down in February.

  • 18 default categories arrive at setup with their subcategories already filled in, so there is nothing to configure before your first entry.
  • 987 searchable icons, matched on synonyms - search "phone" and the Call icons come back.
  • Every account, category and budget carries its own icon and colour, which is what makes a long list scannable at a glance.
  • Delete or restructure a category later and Kashaa asks you to reassign its records rather than orphaning them.

The details

Built to be used without looking.

Three small things that decide whether entry stays effortless past the first week.

Haptics on every key

Firmer for amounts, lighter for fees. You can log a purchase while the queue moves, without giving the screen your full attention.

Notes and fees, inline

Context and transfer fees are fields on the same screen, not a second trip. A fee is real money leaving, so Kashaa counts it rather than absorbing it.

Save works with no signal

The write hits the database on your phone and returns. There is no request that can fail and swallow the entry you just made.

What it feeds

Everything downstream reads the same entry.

One saved transaction updates your balances, your daily rollup, your category breakdown, the heatmap and any budget scoped to that subcategory - all at once, because they are all computed from the same record.

There is no second bookkeeping step anywhere in Kashaa. You never log a transaction and then remember to adjust a budget, or record a loan and then correct a balance. That is the other half of why entry is fast: there is only ever one place to enter anything.
