Frequently asked.

What Kashaa does, what it deliberately doesn't, and what happens to your data along the way. If your question isn't here, email us - a person reads it.

Getting started

Yes. The free tier is genuinely useful and has no time limit or countdown. You can track expenses, income, transfers, debts and budgets, manage up to 3 accounts and 10 categories, log an unlimited number of records, and use every core feature forever at no cost. Kashaa Pro raises the limits for people whose finances have outgrown them.

About a minute. You sign in, read three short screens explaining what the app is for, set your starting balance, pick which accounts you have from six pre-built defaults, and pick which spending categories are relevant to you from 18 defaults. Each category arrives with its subcategories already filled in, so there is nothing to configure before you can log your first transaction.

iOS and Android. Kashaa is a phone app in portrait orientation - there is no tablet layout and no web version. You sign in with your existing Google or Apple account, so there is no new password to manage.

111 currencies. You choose yours during setup and amounts format the way you expect. Kashaa is built and maintained in the Philippines, so peso-first habits like e-wallets and informal lending are treated as normal, first-class parts of the app.

How it works

No, and that is deliberate. Kashaa is a manual tracker - you log transactions yourself. It means your banking credentials stay entirely private, the app has no read access to your statements, and cash transactions are handled as first-class entries rather than as gaps in an imported feed. The trade is real: if you want a passive feed of your card transactions, Kashaa is not that app.

Under five seconds once you are used to it. Tapping the centre button opens a full-screen number pad rather than a form. You type the amount, pick an account, pick a category, and save - and selecting an account automatically advances you to the category picker. The picker leads with the subcategories you use most, ranked by frequency and recency, so after about a week the option you want is usually already on screen.

Completely. Kashaa runs on a real SQLite database on your phone - not a cache of a server and not an offline queue. That local database is the source of truth, so the app opens instantly, works with no signal at all, and cannot lose an entry to a failed network request. Sync runs in the background afterwards, pushing then pulling every ten minutes and whenever you reopen the app.

Yes, and it is the feature Kashaa exists for. A loan is not an expense - your net worth did not change, the money just moved into an IOU - so Kashaa records it as a debt movement that updates your account balance and that person's running balance in a single entry. There are four actions: Lend, Collect, Borrow and Repay. You can also waive an amount you have decided to write off, which reduces the balance without deleting the history.

Each budget is weekly or monthly, and is scoped to a set of subcategories you choose - an Eating Out budget might cover Restaurants, Coffee and Food Delivery. Because budgets attach to your subcategories rather than duplicating your data, spending counts toward a budget the moment you log it. There is no second bookkeeping step and no way for a budget to disagree with your transaction list.

Yes, without losing anything. When you delete a category or subcategory, Kashaa does not orphan or erase the transactions inside it - it asks you to reassign them to another category first, then moves every affected record in one operation. You can restructure your taxonomy years in and keep the full history.

Your data

Your data lives on your own device first, in a database only Kashaa can read, and syncs to your private cloud backup so nothing is lost if you change phones. We never sell or share your data with third parties, and there are no ads. You sign in with your existing Google or Apple account, so we never see or store a password. Kashaa never receives your bank credentials, because it never asks for them.

Nothing is lost. Your data syncs to the cloud automatically. Sign in on the new phone with the same Google or Apple account and everything is exactly where you left it. Merges are guarded by a last-updated comparison, so an older copy can never overwrite a newer one.

Yes. You can delete your account and the data associated with it from inside the app. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail on what is stored, how long it is kept, and your rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Pro and billing

No. Records are unlimited on every tier, including Free - log as much as you like, for as long as you use the app. The free tier's limits are on accounts, budgets, categories, subcategories and payees, never on the transactions themselves.

Higher limits on everything: up to 100,000 accounts instead of 3, 100,000 budgets instead of 3, 100,000 categories instead of 10, 100,000 subcategories instead of 40, and 100,000 payees instead of 5 - effectively no ceiling. Pro also removes the history window, so the Breakdown, Budgets and Heatmap open on any month back to the start. Pro is ₱99 a month, or ₱799 a year which works out about a third cheaper. Every feature itself is in the free tier - Pro is about scale, not about unlocking functionality.

Nothing is deleted, ever. Going over a free limit locks the newest items from further use - the data stays exactly where it is and reappears the moment you subscribe. Your records are never held hostage.

The Expense Breakdown, your Budgets and the Heatmap show this month plus the previous two on Free - a rolling three-month window. Opening an older month or a longer date range prompts the paywall. The underlying records are all still there and never expire; Pro makes every month visible again.

Yes, anytime through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you cancel, your account returns to the free tier and your data stays intact - you just go back to free limits and the three-month history window. Subscriptions are handled by the stores and can be managed from inside Settings.

Yes. Your entitlement is cached and fails safe, so if you are offline your last known subscription state is honoured and Pro does not vanish on a plane. If a different account signs in offline with no verifiable state, Kashaa falls back to Free rather than leaking the previous user's subscription.
