Budgets that follow spending, not wishes.

A budget in Kashaa attaches to the subcategories you choose. It doesn’t duplicate your data, so spending counts toward it automatically the moment you log the transaction - there’s no second bookkeeping step to forget.

Scoping

A budget is a set of subcategories and a limit.

An “Eating Out” budget can cover Restaurants, Coffee, and Food Delivery. A “Getting Around” budget can cover Fuel, Ride-hailing, and Parking. You decide what belongs together, because the grouping that makes sense to you is the only one that will hold.

Each budget runs weekly or monthly. Weekly suits the categories that drift day to day - food, transport, small stuff. Monthly suits the ones that arrive in lumps.

Because budgets attach to subcategories rather than copying your data, a budget can never silently disagree with your transaction list.

Progress

Tracked quietly, in the background.

Progress is rolled up daily by the database, so you can scope any budget to a date range and see exactly what landed inside it.

There's no ceremony to it and no daily check-in demanded of you. You log transactions the way you already were; the budget reflects them because it's reading the same records, not a separate copy you have to maintain.

  • Monthly or weekly periods, per budget.
  • Scoped to any set of subcategories you pick.
  • Counts spending automatically, with no second entry.
  • Free shows the last three months of progress; Pro opens the full history.
  • Any budget can carry its own icon and colour, so a list of twelve stays scannable.

Why it survives

The budget is only as good as the logging.

A budget only reflects reality if every transaction actually gets logged - which is why entry is the part of Kashaa that got the most attention.

Tapping the centre button opens a numpad rather than a form: amount, account, category, save. Selecting an account advances you straight to the category picker, and the picker leads with the subcategories you actually use.
